Kwati is a mixed soup of nine varieties of beans. It is specially consumed on Janai purnima. It is rich in protien and other vital nutrients.
Ingredients:
300 gms Soaked kwati
2 chopped onion
2 chopped tomato
2 tbsp ginger-garlic paste
1 tsp termuric powder
2 tsp cumin-coriander powder
1 tsp garam masala
2 tsp cumin seeds
1 tsp carom seeds
1 tsp red chilli powder
salt per taste
4 cloves
1 cardomom
3-4 cinnamon sticks
2 bay leaves
oil
Recipe:
Heat pressure cooker on gas.
Add oil
When oil is hot, add cloves, cinnamon sticks, cardamom, cumin seeds and carom seeds.
Add onion and fry.
When onion is golden brown, add soaked kwati.
Fry it for 10 minutes, constantly stirring.
Add cumin-coriander powder, red chilli powder, termuric powder, ginger-garlic paste and tomato.
Fry it for 2 more minutes.
Add water for gravy.
Put on lid and cook under pressuer until 8 whistle.
Turn the flame.
Let the pressure come down.
Serve it.
